Spanish Vegan Churro Recipe (In Just 10 Minutes)

Everyone loves the taste of Spanish churros. Even vegans do not want to be deprived of this taste. That’s why we offer a recipe so you can easily make this dessert, which is entirely suitable for your vegan diet, at home.

Let’s Learn This Delicious Spanish Vegan Churro Recipe

“More delicious than the usual ones” is a pretentious sentence. Yes, but we stand behind this statement. Let us give you a few tips on how to make it happen.

First of all, you need to heat the oil well. But beware! We’re not talking about a little warming up.

You have to heat it until the oil in the pan looks like it will jump out of the pan at any moment.

In this way, you can ensure that the outside of the churro is cooked the way you want. Just as the outside must be thoroughly cooked, the inside must also be cooked.

For this, the churros need to wait long enough in the oil. After the outside is fried, they need to stay in oil a little longer so that the insides are cooked well.

But there is still a problem. At this stage, if the churros are kept in the oil for a long time in the same position, you will inevitably burn them.

So what should you do? You have to change positions frequently to avoid getting burned. Turning it upside down often will work.

If you do not pay attention to this, it seems inevitable that the outside will be cooked perfectly and the inside will remain doughy.

We have one more tip. For deep-fried foods such as churros, the best way to create a deep-frying effect using less oil is to use a narrow, deep pan. In this way, it becomes possible to obtain depth in a small area.

Now, if you’re ready, let’s take a look at what ingredients are needed and the step-by-step recipe.

Churros are one of the first flavors that come to mind in Spanish cuisine. Churros are crispy outside and soft inside.

Looking at the ingredients and method of making churros dough, most recipes call for profiteroles and eclairs, which contain dairy.

But what we will prepare now is different from all of them. Because with totally vegan ingredients, we will cook something even more delicious than the usual churros.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 and 1/2 tablespoons of organic sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of vegan butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 cup of water
  • Neutral tasting oil for frying
  • Salt for taste

Covering

  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup of organic sugar

Instructions

Step 1.

Let’s start by boiling the water.

Put the boiling water in a narrow saucepan on the stove and add the vegan butter, salt and sugar.

Mix it for a while so that everything melts. You should see the mixture boil well. If you have seen this, remove the mixture from the heat and set it aside.

While the mixture is still hot, add the flour and mix well with a wooden spoon. You will see that it becomes a soft dough.

Step 2.

Give it an utterly round dough shape and let it sit briefly. 3 minutes will be enough. Meanwhile, prepare your piping bag. If possible, a star-shaped tip is ideal.

Now it’s time to show off all the skills you learned above. Warm the oil well.

Take some of the dough you prepared and put it in your piping bag. Squeeze into this well-heated oil to the desired length.

Start frying by squeezing out as much dough as the pan accepts.

Turn them constantly to continue cooking.

When they are golden brown enough, place them on a plate with a thick paper towel.

Step 3.

Mix the cinnamon and sugar in a bowl.

Dip the churros one by one in the cinnamon and sugar you mixed and transfer them to another plate.
