Category: Side Effects

Our Side Effects section documents what actually goes wrong on the popular diets we cover: keto-flu on ketogenic and Atkins plans, hair thinning and gallbladder stress on very-low-calorie protocols, Dukan-related constipation and kidney load, the adverse-event profile of the Semilla de Brazil weight-loss capsule, and the safety picture on unregulated keto pills.

Every side-effect post starts from the primary mechanism (electrolyte loss, protein-to-kidney load, restrictive-diet nutrient gaps) and cross-checks the picture against published clinical data where it exists; we do not invent studies. Nutrition math uses Nutritionix and USDA references. Where a symptom has a fix we can name (2 to 3 g sodium, 300 to 500 mg magnesium, 3.5 to 4.7 g potassium/day for keto-flu; fiber ramping and 2 to 3 L water/day for constipation; regular protein and carb intake for hair-cycle issues), we spell it out.

Every side-effect post is written or reviewed by a Registered Dietitian on our team, Brenda Peralta, Kerly Cordova, Marita Radloff, or Karolina Peterova, and medically reviewed by Franco Cuevas, MD. This section is not medical advice for your specific case; talk to your clinician if symptoms persist. Corrections: social@dietsmealplan.com.
