Turkish Baked Ground Beef with Vegetables

We brought you a low-carb baked ground beef recipe, one of the stars of Turkish cuisine. Follow the step-by-step recipe and prepare a delicious low-carb dinner in 40 minutes.

What is Turkish Baked Ground Beef?

Turkish baked ground beef with vegetables is a recipe that everyone is pretty obsessed with. Ground beef and vegetables are kneaded with extra attention to the vegetable measurements and baked after spreading on the tray.

The best version is baked in a wood oven used in some Turkish restaurants. They use a special tray, which is called a clay baking tray, which is used in wood ovens.

Since having these facilities at home is not usually easy, we have brought you a homemade version. There is almost no difference between it and the original.

Ingredients

Beef Ingredients

  • 1 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 small tomato
  • 1 medium red pepper
  • 1 medium green pepper
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1/2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp. pepper paste
  • 1 tbsp. pepper
  • 1 tbsp. chili flakes
  • 1/2 tbsp. cumin
  • Salt to taste

Sauce

  • 1/2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 4 tbsp. vegetable oil

Topping

  • 5 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 red pepper

Instructions

  1. Take the ground beef into a deep mixing bowl.
  2. Add the spices, tomato, and pepper paste to it.
  3. Peel the onions and divide them into four equal parts.
  4. Peel the tomato and cut it into two equal pieces. Cut off the stems of the red and green peppers in half.
  5. Peel the garlic, put the onion, garlic, peppers, tomato, and chopped parsley in a food processor, and chop until extra fine.
  6. Add the vegetables you chopped in the food processor to the beef.
  7. Finally, add as much salt as you want.
  8. Then, knead until all the beef ingredients are combined.
  9. Preheat the Oven to 200°C / 392°F.
  10. If possible, prepare a round and wide baking tray.
  11. Spread the kneaded beef on the tray by pressing it a little.
  12. Add less than 1/2 tbsp of tomato paste to less than 1 cup of water.
  13. Add sunflower oil to the tomato paste water. Mix well until the water and tomato paste are thoroughly combined.
  14. Pour this tomato paste water evenly over the beef on the tray.
  15. Wash the topping vegetables thoroughly.
  16. Cut the cherry tomatoes in half. Cut the peppers into 2 or 3 parts.
  17. Place the cherry tomatoes and peppers on the beef. Put the tray in the oven and bake for 30 minutes.
  18. When it’s ready, let some water remain in the tray, and when serving, take some of this sauce and pour it over the meat.

Notes

Use a small tomato, just as written in the ground beef ingredients. If you use larger or more tomatoes to add to the beef, the beef will become watery during baking and will not taste as perfect as we would like.

Bake in a controlled manner, as the baking time will vary according to each oven. Bake until the meat absorbs the water it has.
If the meat still looks raw at the end of the time, add a little more water and bake for a while.
