Ingredients
Dough
- Oat bran flour (1 cup + 3 tbsp)
- Coconut flour (1 tbsp less than 1 cup)
- Butter (6 tbsp)
- A pinch of salt
- Water (3 tbsp)
Filing
- Red apple (3, medium)
- Cinnamon (1 tsp)
- Water (1/3 cup)
Topping
- Red apple (3, medium)
- Grated nutmeg (A pinch)
- Cinnamon (1 tsp)
- Lemon juice (Use the juice of half a lemon)
Instructions
Step 1
To start to prepare the filling, peel the apples. After peeling, cut the apples into cubes, and sprinkle them with cinnamon. Then take a small saucepan, add 1/3 cup of water and apples, then cook on low heat until the apples are soft.
Step 2
Put the apples in a blender and make them puree. Set it aside and then wait for it to cool. In the meantime, you can start making the pie dough.
Step 3
To start preparing the dough, melt the butter in a saucepan. Turn off the stove when the melted butter turns brown color. After the butter cools down a bit, add oat bran flour and coconut flour. Then add salt, and 3 tbsp of water. Make a dough by mixing and kneading the dough ingredients. Spread the dough into a small mold.
Preheat the oven.
Oven Temperature: 190°C / 374°F
Step 4
Now you can start preparing the topping. Peel the skins of 3 red apples and cut them into small thin slices. Add lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the apples and rub. Then let it sit for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, pour the cooked apple mix that you pureed in the blender into the dough. Arrange sliced and marinated apples on top. Put the pie in the oven and bake in a controlled manner for about 1 hour. Take it out of the oven when the apples are browned, as the baking time may vary depending on the oven.
Bon Appétit!
Notes
- The tart mold should be small in size. Or you can use a small size mold with clamps.
- After spreading the dough into the mold, let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Wait for the butter to cool slightly before adding the ingredients while making the dough. But do not cool the butter completely. You can find out that the butter has reached the ideal temperature by dipping your finger into it. If your finger does not burn, you can start to add other ingredients.
- If the apples are still hard at the end of the cooking process, add a little more water and continue cooking until become tender.

This pie recipe contains a very safe sweetness compared to other sugar-free pies. Because the sugar ratio does not come from a banana, molasses, or honey. And yes, it doesn’t have honey in it either. But don’t let that scare you.
If you think it will be tasteless, we recommend that you do not decide without trying it. Because this sweetness from apples and spices will be strong enough to cut through your sugar craving in no time.
