Category: Detox

Our detox section takes a plain-language approach to a category full of overpromises. Your liver and kidneys detoxify your body every day – they don’t need a juice cleanse to do it. What actually helps is eating a diet built around whole foods, fiber, water, and adequate protein, plus limiting the specific things (alcohol, ultra-processed foods, excess added sugar) that give those organs more work. That’s the framework these plans and recipes are built on.

The articles here cover short-term reset plans (3-day, 5-day, 7-day) focused on whole-food eating, higher fiber, and reduced processed intake – not starvation cleanses, not proprietary detox teas, not supplements we sell. Some articles cover specific approaches (green smoothie plans, sugar detox, elimination-style resets) with honest caveats about what they can and can’t do. Others explain the science: what the liver actually does, what the evidence says about specific detox foods, and where popular claims outrun the research.

Content that touches health conditions – fatty liver disease, insulin resistance, GERD, kidney concerns – is reviewed by a Registered Dietitian on our team and, where clinical guidance applies, by Franco Cuevas, MD. We don’t recommend detoxes for anyone pregnant, breastfeeding, managing diabetes without clinician oversight, or with a history of disordered eating. Every recipe is tested in our kitchen; every claim is sourced to peer-reviewed research or a named health authority.
