About this collection

Our food-list library is the reference desk of the site: what to eat, what to avoid, and why, organized by diet, condition, and nutrient. From keto food lists to Hashimoto's-friendly foods, DASH sodium targets, low-FODMAP for IBS, high-fiber pantry staples, vitamin B12 sources, iron-rich foods, and everything in between - each list is compiled from named authorities (USDA FoodData Central, NIH ODS, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Mayo Clinic) and reviewed against current clinical guidance.

Diet-based lists cover keto, paleo, Mediterranean, DASH, vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, low-carb, low-fat, low-sodium, low-oxalate, and low-FODMAP. Condition-based lists cover diabetes, PCOS, thyroid conditions, kidney disease, IBS and IBD, diverticulitis, GERD, gout, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and pregnancy. Nutrient-based lists cover the vitamins, minerals, macros, and electrolytes people actually search for.

Condition-specific lists are written or reviewed by a Registered Dietitian on our team (Brenda Peralta, Kerly Cordova, Marita Radloff, Karolina Peterova) and medically reviewed by Franco Cuevas, MD. Drug-nutrient interaction lists (grapefruit and medications, high-potassium foods on ACE inhibitors, vitamin K and warfarin) also go through pharmacist review with Andleeb Asghar, Pharm-D. Every list is a starting point, not a prescription: if a food restriction is medically important for you, talk to your own clinician about how strict you need to be.
