About this collection

Our Diet Comparisons section runs side-by-side breakdowns of the diets readers actually weigh against each other: Keto vs Paleo, Keto vs Low Carb, Keto vs Whole30, Paleo vs Atkins, Paleo vs Vegan, Paleo vs Whole30, Mediterranean vs Paleo, and Atkins vs Dukan. Each comparison covers allowed foods, macro splits, weight-loss evidence, sustainability, cost, and who each plan actually suits.

Every comparison uses the same rubric so results are apples-to-apples: macro ratio, typical daily calories, food list overlap, cost per week at U.S. grocery prices, cook time per meal, and published clinical evidence on weight loss, blood lipids, and blood glucose. Nutrition figures on sample days are calculated against the Nutritionix database and USDA references, and we do not stack diets against straw-man versions of each other.

Comparisons are written or reviewed by our Registered Dietitians Brenda Peralta, Kerly Cordova, Marita Radloff, and Karolina Peterova, and medically reviewed by Franco Cuevas, MD, so claims about diabetes, cholesterol, and cardiovascular outcomes match the evidence. Sample recipes cited in each comparison are cooked in our Wayne, NJ kitchen. Corrections to social@dietsmealplan.com.
